I recently got my first work with one of my favorite hunting and fishing magazines, Outdoor Life. They are owned by New York City based Bonnier Corporation, who also publishes Cycle World, Field and Stream, Popular Science, Dirt Rider, Flying, Yachting and a host of other magazines. I shot this photo during a duck hunt a couple of years ago and was happy to license the image for use in this prestigious publication.
Way back in the winter of 2012/2013 I had the opportunity to duck hunt with some friends in northeast Oklahoma on a small private lake near Shamrock. Rather than take my shotgun, which I usually do, I took my camera equipment and took pictures of them hunting from a duck blind. If you have ever been duck hunting, you know it is cold, wet, muddy, but a lot of fun. I love how we can hang out, talk, shoot the breeze, then hunker down when we see ducks and try to call them into our spread.
Later I pitched some of the photos to my client at Oklahoma Living and they picked up one of my photos for the cover shot. I really like how this was placed on the page. Great design work!
