Jake Dragoo works for House of Kawasaki and took off a couple of days to help his dad Bill Dragoo at the Adventure Training camp held in Lexington. Jake was able to ride his dad’s tricked out Beta 525 dual sport motorcycle for the training. I have ridden this bike myself and it is sweet, with probably the best suspension system I have ever ridden on a dirt bike. Once again I took this photo with my Toyo VX-125 4×5 film camera using Ilford HP5 film, and developed the image at home using Kodak D76 developer.
Peter Culbertson rode down from New England to participate in Bill Dragoo’s Adventure Training course in Lexington. Peter is on a tricked out BWM R1200GS Adventure motorcycle. He has it farkled out with all the bells and whistles and some really cool removable soft saddlebags that I would love to try out.
Chad Oakley sits atop his late model BMW R1200GS motorcycle while at Bill Dragoo’s Adventure Rider training course in Lexington, Oklahoma. Chad was using what looks like Metzeler Tourance tires on his bike in the sand. I know from experience that those tires don’t do so swell in the sand. I rode 50 or so miles in the Mojave desert in soft sugar sand ni 110 degree temps with those tires on my fully loaded BMW R1200GS Adventure a few years ago and it wasn’t the least bit fun. I never dropped the bike but it was not what i would call an enjoyable ride. I hope Chad enjoyed his ride better than I did!
Aaron Tygart posed for this picture while at Bill Dragoo’s Adventure Training course in Lexington, Oklahoma a few weeks ago. Aaron is on a late model BMW R1200GS motorcycle and learning to ride knarly off-road stuff with Bill and his classmates.
Today we have Tobin Vigil, owner of Buchanan Bicycles in Norman, on his KTM 950 Adventure motorcycle. Tobin is a very unique character and rides everything from bicycles to KTM dirt bikes, his big Adventure, and a “rat bike” he made from a Harley sportster. A true motorcyclist, Tobin believes, like me, if it has two wheels, it must be fun to ride.
